How to Choose Party Entertainment

Make Your Event a Hit That Your Guests Will Talk About for Years
Everyone wants their event to be well received by their guests. Use these helpful tips to make it easier to select entertainers that will delight your guests and make your event the success you hope for.

Referrals: Word of mouth is one of the most popular and reliable methods people use to find services. Ask your family and friends who they have used and if they were happy with the service. You and your friends probably have similar likes and dislikes. A large percentage of our work is either repeat customers or referrals.

Licensed and Inspected: Is the party entertainment you are hiring licensed to do business in your area? Washington state requires all inflatable rides be inspected annually and have liability insurance. You can tell if they have passed inspection by the permit sticker each unit must have displayed.

Experience and Commitment: Does the entertainer or company have experience in what they offer? Are they new to the business or do they have years of entertaining experience? An experienced performer is better prepared to overcome the unexpected situations that arise when doing live entertainment. An experienced company has, hopefully, learned from mistakes and how to avoid repeating them.

Is the party entertainment just trying to make extra money on the weekends or have they dedicated themselves to their craft and business? Can you rely on them to be there in a month when your event is being held?

Solo Performer vs Company: There are often excellent solo performers and companies from which to choose. Check with the solo performers to see if they have a contingency plan so your party doesn’t get left out if the performer gets sick or has an emergency. A company is often better prepared to substitute another performer if one gets sick or has an emergency.

Specialized Service: Hire party entertainment that specializes in the service you want. A magician that performs at an adult mixer may or may not be suitable for a kid’s birthday party.

Equipment Quality/Cleanliness: Is the equipment you rent in good condition or in need of repair? When was the last time it was cleaned? Each Merry Maker unit is checked before use and again when taken down.

Quality of Performers: Merry Makers selects talented performers who pride themselves on professionalism. Did the clown you are considering find their costume at a thrift store or seek specialty clothing that matched their character? Is their makeup a collection of colors, dots and lines or intentionally designed to highlight their facial features? If you hire a clown, make sure you get a professional clown—not just someone trying to be silly.
