The No-Fright Zone - The movie "It" and other unfavorable depictions in the media have given clowns a bad rap. Unfortunately, there are people that intentionally, and sometimes unintentionally (Halloween costumes) make clowns look grotesque and scary. At Merry Makers we strive to be kid-friendly (and adult-friendly) with our appearance and mannerisms. Our approach rarely allows for whiteface makeup and shuns fright wigs. Different than circus or television clowns, our work puts us face-to-face with people. Our performance style maintains the illogical, unpredictable silliness that is Clown while being vigilant of our audience’s sensitivities.
